Procedure

Procedure Details

Young male patient presented himself to the office complaining about a birthmark on his chin. Patient strongly disliked the appearence of the mole. Mole was also changing in shape and size. Large moles like the one shown here are important to get biopsied to rule out any malignancy that may be located within the lesion. Mole characteristics to look for that may lead to removal are irregular shape, growing in size, change in color/ appearance. We are not a dermatology office, Dr. Mountcastle assists in the complete removal of lesions. Our practice sends the specimens ( tissue removed at the time time of surgery) to Ameripath for a complete tissue diagnosis and biopsy. Results are usually obtained within a few days
