Meet Dr. Mountcastle
Timothy S. Mountcastle, M.D. is a Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, General Surgeon, and the Medical Director of Mountcastle Plastic Surgery & Vein Institute serving the Northern Virginia area. He is the Former Chief of Plastic Surgery at INOVA Loudoun Hospital and has been practicing aesthetic and reconstructive surgery since 2004. He serves as the Medical Director of the National Center for Veins and has offered advanced vein removal surgery since 1999. In 2014 and 2015, Northern Virginia Magazine named Dr. Mountcastle as a "Top Plastic Surgeon," and he received the Loudoun Times-Mirror Reader’s Choice Award for “Best Plastic Surgeon” in Loudoun County.
Skills and Specialties
Dr. Mountcastle is a board certified plastic surgeon who performs cosmetic and insurance based surgeries for the breasts, body, and abdomen. Through his experience and advanced training, he provides a variety of clinically proven solutions for varicose and spider veins using ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, VeinGogh thermo coagulation, and the minimally invasive VNUS closure procedure. For more than a decade, he has performed more than 10,000 vein procedures in Northern Virginia.
Dr. Mountcastle also specializes in breast augmentations, breast lift and breast reduction surgery, breast reconstructions, and male breast reduction surgery. He is one of only a few plastic surgeons in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area that performs DIEP-flap breast reconstruction. At Mountcastle Plastic Surgery & Vein Institute, he provides men and women with a variety of plastic surgery and nonsurgical skin enhancements such as tummy tucks, liposuction, facial procedures (nose surgery, and face, brow, eyelid lifts), injectables and skin tightening laser treatments. His practice has Allergan Black Diamond status and is among the top 1% of all BOTOX Cosmetic and filler injectors in the United States.
Education and Training
Before medical school, Dr. Mountcastle earned a Bachelor’s degree in biology from James Madison University. Dr. Mountcastle graduated with honors as one of the top five students of his Howard University medical school class. He trained at the prestigious Charity Hospital in New Orleans for seven years and received degrees in both general and plastic surgery from Louisiana State University. During his residency at LSU, he was appointed Chief Resident in both general surgery and plastic surgery.

Dr. Mountcastle is double board certified in both Plastic Surgery and General Surgery and is a member of the National Capital Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Virginia Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Currently, he is on staff at Reston Surgery Center, INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital, and INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Dr. Mountcastle is also a panel physician at Fauquier Health's Wound Healing Center.

Personal & Interests
As a Virginia native, Dr. Mountcastle was delighted to return to the area after finalizing his training in Louisiana. An active member of his Leesburg community, he is dedicated to community service and charities (Children's Outreach), and he sits on the Board of Directors of Borromeo Housing Inc., which manages the Elizabeth House residential program for homeless teenage mothers and their children in Arlington, VA. Dr. Mountcastle also provides site assistance to medical missions in Honduras, Colombia, and Bolivia.
At his practice, he is known by his staff and patients to be warm, caring and passionately detail oriented. When he is not changing lives, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Meredith, and their daughters, Catherine and Noelle. Their family has a loveable pug named Madison. Dr. Mountcastle is an outdoor enthusiast who loves participating in soccer, tennis, boating, water and snow skiing.
