About Tummy Tucks

My name is Timothy Mountcastle, I am the Medical Director, and I am a Double Board Certified General Surgeon and Plastic Surgeon.

And my name is Kaitlin Buehler, and I am the Surgical Registered Nurse at Mountcastle Plastic Surgery and Vein Institute.

Today we're going to talk about tummy tucks. The patients that we usually see for this procedure are women who have had many children, or they've lost a good deal of weight. They have this extra hanging skin. They have a lot of stretch marks, many of them have had C-sections, and their skin is just hanging down, and they just want to get rid of that extra hanging skin.

The surgery itself takes around two and a half hours. Obviously that is dependent on the patient and the amount of extra tissue. Sometimes it can take two, sometimes it can take three, depending on how complicated or extensive the procedure is, whether they've had C-sections or scars in those areas before that creates scar tissue.
