What is Microneedling? - Mountcastle Plastic Surgery - Ashburn, VA

Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that uses small needles to puncture the skin, producing collagen and elastin to help repair it.

About Microneedling

My name is Ragan Riley, and I am one of the master aesthetician here at Mountcastle Med Spa and Laser Center. And we're going to be talking about microneedling with skin pen.

Microneedling is a treatment that is specifically for collagen and elastin stimulation. We stop producing collagen and elastin around our mid 20s, so there's a lot of concerns that microneedling can correct, such as lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, scaring. We can treat under the eye, which is really nice too for creepiness, fine lines. But in a series of three or more treatments, it really is a wonderful, corrective procedure.

Most patients do require a series of three to six microneedling treatments. These can be done once every four to six weeks. And most patients come in around every month. We like to bring the patients in for a followup as your skin will look really wonderful and rejuvenated. A few weeks after your treatment, your real full result is not going to be until a few months after your last and final treatment, because your skin going to keep on improving.
