Infected Sebaceous Cyst*

Procedure Details

46 year old patient came to Dr. Mountcastle's office with an infected sebaceous cyst on his right hip. Dr. Mountcastle excised the cyst and washed out the pocket where the cyst was to try and help remove the infection. He also inserted a penrose drain which allowed the wound to drain for a few days making sure all the infection was out. The patient came back one week later to get the drain and sutures out as well as a month later for a follow-up. Over time the discoloration will fade away as well. The patient is happy to be pain-free and no longer have the infection.
