Tumor Removed From Left Axilla & Found to Be Woman's Accessory Breast Tissue*

Procedure Details

Having a large mass between the breast and underarm, this 32-year-old North Virginia woman consulted with our double board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Timothy Mountcastle for the removal. This deposit of fatty tissue was removed in our Mountcastle Plastic Surgery & Vein Institute operating room under a local anesthesia. Our team sent this mass to a laboratory for testing to verify there were no malignancies present. Very satisfied that the mass was no longer visible and healing nicely, the patient returned 2 weeks later to have the sutures removed. Once the biopsy report came back to our office, it was determined that the tumor was accessory breast tissue, which is very common in this area of the chest.
