Microblading is a newer technique and an alternative to traditional permanent makeup for the eyebrows. Where permanent makeup can result in a “colored in” look on the brows, microblading is done using a handheld tool that creates very fine, hair-like strokes resulting in very natural looking eyebrows.
Traditional permanent makeup is done with a handheld machine that drives the pigment deeper into the skin, creating a much less thick and less crisp look. Permanent makeup does last much longer, however, there can be downsides to this, such as desiring a different shape or color.
Microblading is semi-permanent and typically requires touch-ups once every 12-24 months. Times change, and so do beauty trends! The semi-permanence of this brow treatment allows you to change up your look from year to year if you choose!
Using the small handheld tool, tiny superficial scratches are made into the skin, creating the ultra-fine, hair-like strokes. After the skin is given ample time to heal, and the pigment time to settle, a second “finishing” treatment is done. At this point, more strokes can be added, as well as creating more depth with darker pigment is desired.
There are many “do’s and don’t’s” pre and post-treatment. At Mountcastle MedSpa, we want to make sure you get the best treatment and the longest-lasting results, so we bring patients in for a consultation in the days (or weeks) before the first microblading session. Your brow artist knows that eyebrows really do frame the face and can even give a younger more vibrant look. We love the way microblading is giving our patients the perfect, customized brows they’ve always desired!
